Bio:
John Huckins is a New England based artist holding a master's degree in Metal from SUNY New Paltz and a BFA from Maine College of Art. He has taught at many arts and crafts educational institutions such as School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University in Boston Massachusetts, Maine College of Art in Portland Maine, State University of New York at new Paltz in New Platz New York, Peters Valley School of Craft in Layton New Jersey, The Steel Yard in Providence Rhode Island and others around the country. His artwork deals with the psychology of perceived objecthood embedded in functional objects; creating things that provoke questions about the objects of everyday life. Ranging from jewelry to structural steel, blacksmithing to cookware, historic restoration and contracted metalwork, John has dedicated his practice to understanding and employing skill sets grounded in metalsmithing, building, and education.
