News: Robin Maxfield To Emcee MBACC Story Slams
August 25, 2015 (Dedham, MA) - Robin Maxfield, Executive Producer of Boston Comedy Chicks, will emcee the second story slam season at Mother Brook Arts & Community Center. As emcee Maxfield will engage the audience with stories and trivia questions as the evening moves from story to story. Maxfield brings her expertise from Boston Comedy Chicks who hosts standup events around Greater Boston including a monthly comedy showcase at Doyle’s pub in Jamaica Plain. Her first story slam at MBACC as emcee is Thursday, September 17; the theme is “Ouch!” Recruited by Jean Ford Webb, MBACC Executive Director, Maxfield will work with MBACC volunteers and staff to grow the event that was started in 2014 as a way to build community.
“Story telling is a fantastic way to build community! We pick themes that everyone can relate to and they are typically open to interpretation. If you come to tell a story, come to listen, come for the trivia or come for any combination of those things you will leave feeling connected.” – Robin Maxfield, Boston Comedy Chicks
MBACC hosts a monthly story slams on the third Thursday of each month September – April. Each evening competitors drop their name in a hat and are chosen at random to compete against other tellers for prizes. Prizes are awarded to the top stories, chosen by the audience, of the evening. The evening also features trivia, cash bar, complementary appetizers, and free parking. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
