Metals: Metalsmithing

Forging is an ancient art of hammering metal to transform the shape and width of wire. Using different sized hammers, steel blocks and anvil, we will forge 6g to 20g. wire and thick sheet metal into different forms and also make jewelry or utensils or small sculpture. We will be doing forged bracelets, rings, earrings and even a simple forged chain. We will be exploring different hammers to create a variety of textures. We will be doing cold forging and hot forging. Mostly copper, nu-gold and sterling will be used. This is a noisy class and very physical as well
