Karen Kemp’s paintings and etchings highlight her habit of inspecting nature at close range. Karen is especially keen to ensure that her work is broadly accessible: the subjects evoke recognition of the familiar in nature, and for some a whimsical nostalgia In her work, Karen aims to bring the viewer into closeness with the aspects of nature that are usually seen only in an instant or two, but are beautiful to examine.

Karen Kemp, a native of Long Island, New York, currently maintains a studio in Boston. She studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, and at the University of New Hampshire and has a BA in Art History. She also has extensive training in the conservation of paintings and works on paper, as well as training in traditional fresco painting and restoration from Il Laboratorio Per Affresco di Vainella, in Prato, Italy. In 2003 Karen received a painting fellowship at the Vermont Studio Center. She also has been the recipient of several awards for her work in etching and oil painting. 

Karen regularly exhibits her work and is currently represented by Danette Koke Fine Art in New York, NY, and the Radius Gallery in Missoula, MT. Her artwork has become a part of private and corporate art collections world wide.
