Gillian Jackson, Photographer
Gillian Jackson was born and raised in the north of England. In 1982, she moved to Bermuda, where, inspired by the clear bright light, startling colours and contrasts, she began pursuing photography.
Since the early 1980's, Gillian has travelled and photographed extensively throughout Europe, the U.S. and visited both Peru and Brazil. She has used this experience in her work, consistently trying to capture and frame beauty wherever it may be found, either the obvious, or, more commonly, in more obscure surroundings.
Two of the more important themes of her photography are found in architecture and the study of natural settings. Gillian has lived in Boston since 1990 and her work has been exhibited and collected in the U.K., Bermuda, Singapore and the U.S. with permanent installations in Milton Hospital, Milton, MA and Gazprom, Singapore.
As a nominee in nature black and white photography, 2004 & 2005, awarded by an international Judging Panel of the Black and White Spider Awards, the nominated image below, was published in “The World’s Greatest Black & White Photography”, Sept 2007
